Description
Oldest house in the Town of Rochester according to a recent Historic Farmstead Survey conducted by the Historic Preservation Commission. The Osterhoudt Home Farm built in the early 1720's may be the only stone house with front gable facade design left in town. The Dutch barn located to the west of the house were common in 18th century are now considered rare and this one is considered to be of exceptional significance according to researcher Neil Larson. Historic features include a milk house, wagon house small barn, privy, animal house, and pump house. Census records show the Osterhoudts occupied the farm from 1703 for seven generations until it was acquired by the Kelders in1946.
